PANEL UPGRADES

Does your Home still have an old style fuse panel?

Are your current circuits overloaded?

Have circuits been "doubled-up" on breakers?

Has new wiring been added over the years, and does it meet code?

Has your Insurance Company refused to renew your home insurance policy?

Is your panel over 15 years old?

!! SAFETY ALERT !!

Do you have a Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) breaker or panel in your home? See http://www.inspect-ny.com/fpe/fpepanel.htm for more information.

Do you have a Zinsco breaker or panel in your home? See http://www.inspect-ny.com/electric/Zinsco.htm for more information.

Homes equipped with these two brands are at a greater risk of fire and other electrical hazards.

Do you have a pan el with another manufacturer's breaker in it? BEWARE! This can happen fairly easily because many brands are mechanically interchangeable (which means they may "fit"), but in most cases this will VOID the UL listing of both the panel and breaker due to improper installation. If there were a fire and it was decided that the panel played a part in it, this action may then void your Insurance Policy. (Feel free to call and ask your insurance company about this.)

If you have answered YES to any of these questions your home may be in need of a service panel upgrade.

Modern Circuit Breaker Panels are more convenient, and are built to far higher safety standards than outdated fuse panels.

Extra protection is incorporated into the latest eq uipment in the form of circuit breakers. The circuit breakers protect every device in the house with sensitive circuitry that responds quickly if there is a fault, opening the circuit and eliminating the risk of danger. There is also excellent protection available in the form of Ground-Fault Circuit Breakers and Arc-Fault Circuit Breakers.

Older equipment and wiring systems di d not have to support the modern appliances of our day. Overloading and doubling up of circuits is commonly seen on older outdated fuse panels, the result of improper installations that were never inspected. This can cause fires. Upgrading or replacing these dangers in your home by installing a new Circuit Breaker Panel can eliminate these potentially dangerous situations.

Here are some reasons to Upgrade your Panel:

Reduce the chance of an electrical fire.
Eliminate doubled-up circuits.
Eliminate the need to replace fuses, or the chance to install the wrong size fuse, which is a common fire hazard.
Capacity to add additional circuits in the future.
Increase the resale value of your home.
Don't compromise on safety!

First, have your system inspected by one of our highly qualified technicians. They will help you to decide whether you should have your outdated fuse or breaker panel replaced with a modern Circuit Breaker Panel.

POOL AND SPA WIRING AND CONTROLS

POOL

Things to consider when having a pool installed:

Control Panels for Remote Control of Pool and Spa functions

Modern pool control panels offer you the luxury of controlling all functions of your pool system from a keypad inside your home. Control the heater, pump On or Off, pump speed, and the motorized valves of the plumbing system from the comfort of your home. Optional auxillary relays provide additonal functions, such as control of landscape or fiber optic lighting.

Fiber Optic Lighting

Fiber Optic Lighting is the only truly safe lighting you should consider for your pool or spa. Why?

Because everyone knows th at electricity and water are not a good combination, especially when you are sitting in your pool or spa. With fiber lighting there is never a chance of an electric shock, or worse an electrocution, because there is no electrical wiring near the pool, only light. Options include changing colors and remote control of your fiber optic lighting.

Landscape Lighting

Transform your yard with beautiful highlights at night time, by adding landscape lighting. For beauty and security. Call us today for an in home consultation.

With family and friends using your spa, you want to be sure that it is installed correctly, especially the electrical wiring. By hiring a qualified Electrical Contractor to connect your spa, one that is licensed, bonded and insured, and obtains the required Electrical Permit, you are assured that it meets current electrical safety standards. You can enjoy your hot tub with the knowledge and peace of mind that you and your loved ones are SAFE from electrical hazards.

SECURITY LIGHTING

Security lighting installed on your home can help to reduce the risk of break-in.  It can be a good deterrent to prowlers, who prefer to enter under the shield of darkness.  Consider some of the following measures to help reduce this risk.

MOTION SENSOR LIGHTS

Motion sensor flood lights offer a strong deterrent to prowlers, and home invasion criminals.  These sensitve devices detect motion, and automatically flood the area with bright light.  Sensitivity adjustments can be set to avoid false tripping, and the length of time that the lights stay on can be adjusted.

DIGITAL TIMER SWITCHES

Digital timer switch es can replace existing switches and offer control of both interior and exterior lighting.  Programmable for multiple on/off cycles each day, modern digital timer switches provide you with the ability to set up your lights for automatic control and provide a lived in look, even while you are away.

SURGE PROTECTION

Today, homes are filled with sensitive electronics that are easily damaged by common power surges, spikes or voltage impulses. A lightning storm near a residence can deliver a high energy electrical surge that can enter a home and destroy appliances, televisions, stereo equipment, and other electrical products.

The cost of replacing electronic equipment in an average home is $8,000. This figure can easily top $20,000 if the homeowner has a sophisticated entertainment system, or a home office.

Wired Right by Ruhd Electric Service recommends that to fully protect your investment, consider a 2-stage approach to Surge Protection.

Stage 1 - Primary Protection for Service Entrance

Stage 2 - Secondary Protection at Point of Use

By installing 2 stages of surge protection, your electronic equipment can be protected from most power surges, spikes and voltage impulses that are common everyday.

Do not underestimate an unchecked high voltage surge that can wipe out your investment instantly, or the smaller everyday surges that can d egrade the electronic components in your home slowly over time.

Call Wired Right today for an evaluation of your surge protection requirements.
